Every year, in the same months, I have a Roadrunner, or two, visit my backyard for a week or so. They are very aggressive and are curious of the clicking shutter. I have heard that the clicking / ratcheting sound made is similar to a mating sound. They are omnivores and eat snails, insects, lizards, baby birds, and snakes (including rattlesnakes). They are related to the Cuckoo family. I also like the prehistoric look of the Roadrunners. More pictures of these birds are in my gallery.
