"The Double Edged Sword."
The European Starling is a very beautiful bird at different times of the year. They are a very tenacious pest when in numbers. The Robin that has claimed my yard for his breeding ground this spring (assuming so since he is constantly patrolling) is constantly raising his feathers and chasing this bird away. It took 2 days for this guy to tell the rest of his buddies that my yard was looking good for food. (They were in the neighbors yard for some unknown reason) They have tried to move to mine unsuccessfully. (Thank the lord) I have heard that putting out a garbage pile in the corner of the yard will keep them away from the premium feed, as that is what they are used to, feeding in the garbage. You have to be very careful on what you wish for as "more varieties of birds" will attract many pests if you don't watch how you feed.
